"Will we still have computers?"

Access to the World Wide Web and the library's own digital resources and subscriptions will be provided through sixty Internet terminals and Cambridgeshire County Council's broadband capacity. Customers will be able to plug in their laptops at designated points on all floors.

An appropriate number of "catalogue only" terminals will be available to guarantee access at all times to the library catalogue and any other key databases.

All terminals will offer access to email and Microsoft Office and will be bookable by the hour.

Experienced librarians and information specialists will be on hand to assist customers to find the information they need, and to help them navigate the Web, if required.

"Will we have Wi-Fi?"

Yes, the Central Library, Cambridge will be a Wi-Fi hotspot offering free internet access to customers using their laptops or other Wi-Fi enabled devices.

"What is BFI Mediatheque?"

BFI Mediatheque offers free access to the film and television collections of the British Film Institute's National Archives.

Customers will be able to choose from over 1000 different titles ranging from short public information films to full-length films.

Titles cover the period from the dawn of British film-making at the beginning of the 20th Century to the present day. BFI Mediatheque is a partnership venture with The British Film Institute.

A library card and PIN will be required to access the self-service machines.
