"When will Central Library open?"

The library will open on Tuesday, 29 September 2009.

"Are you going to improve the opening hours of Central Library, Cambridge?"

Yes, we will be extending the opening hours to include Sundays. The new hours of opening will be:

Monday 9-7
Tuesday 9-7
Wednesday 9-8
Thursday 9-7
Friday 9-7
Saturday 9-6
Sunday 12-4

"Will the new library be easy to use?"

Yes, there will be clear guiding and staff will be on hand to help with any enquiries.

Technology will be used to make it as easy as possible for customers to find their way around the building and to be made aware of what is going on in the library via a network of information screens.

Easy to use and reliable systems will be available so that all customers can:

- Issue and return items
- Pay for chargeable items and print-outs
- Settle their library account
- Book and log onto a library pc
- Locate items on the shelves

"What is Quick Pick?"

Quick Pick is for people who need a good read, but haven't got long to spend in the library. A selection of the most popular and current fiction and non-fiction has been brought together close to the entrance, with self-service terminals close to hand.

"Will the library still have plenty of seating?"

In total there will be more than 150 seating places in the library. There will be 60 study and reading spaces, providing tables and chairs for formal study on the 2nd floor.

"Will there be toilets and nappy changing facilities?"

Yes. There will be a toilet on each floor and baby change facilities on floors one and three.
